Christmas in Salt Lake City is very special when compared to other states in America.  The illumination is fantastic and naturally we all went on December 24, to Temple Square, Salt Lake City.

birthday celebration of sister vivardhini

Happy Birthday 

My sister, Vivardhini is born on September 15.  Her birthday was celebrated on September 23.  Mom chose this day as Navaratri was to start from September 21. The celebration was very simple.  My grandpa never allows mom to spend money for unnecessary purposes.  So mom invited only 2 families.  Viva was very happy as her close friend had come.

Dasera 2017

Dasera or Navaratri is a hindu festival celebrated all over India.  Navaratri means nine nights.  It is a 10 day celebration event, the last day being called Vijayadashami day.  During this period dolls are arranged and kept in an attractive way.  Happy Dusera to all.  Thanks to my grandpa who has taken so much pain in arranging dolls to enable us to celebrate Navaratri in a great way.

India Mela

Today we went to Ganesha Hindu Temple situated in South Jordan, Salt Lake City to attend India Mela fest.  We all had fun there watching so many cultural activities. Of late my sister has started loving to dance and she has been telling Amma to teach her.

Everyone is so happy today as grandpa arrived here to spend some months with us.  I went to Airport with Appa and Amma to receive him and he has brought so many presents to me and to my sister, Vivardhini.

Today is Ganesh Festival day. My grandpa (mom's father) & Ajji (grandma- mom's mother) performed pooja in Mysore.  We also did perform pooja here in Salt Lake City.

My only Grand Mother calls my sister Vivardhini with affection as Gouri (pet name).  In fact today is goddess Gouri Festival.  Every Hindu performs pooja in India.  Here is the video showing Aarathi to goddess Gouri by Grandma in Mysore.  She is a great singer too.

Mom and Papa decided to do Anna Shastra ritual (first time giving food) to me on Sunday, the July 30. 2017.  Here are some pictures of the rituals.  Thanks to Mr. Bhat for conducting the ceremony over skype.

Circus

Dad and Mom took me and my sister Vivardhini to Circus today evening.  It was a wonderful experience to my sister as she could get cookies and candy.  I didn't like the environment as the huge crowd was responding with applause.  Here is one video clip of the circus act.
